John Peter Morgan
1 December 1886 --- 6 September 1949

John Peter Morgan was born Dec. 1, 1886 near Mattoon, Illinois to Henry and Sarah Morgan. He passed away Sept. 6, 1949 at the age of 62 years, 9 months, and 5 days. He passed away at the farm home near Goldfield, Iowa. He came to Iowa at the age of 22.

On October 27, 1909 he was united in marriage to Sophia Georgia Rasmussen of the Evergreen Community. To this union were born four sons. He spent his remaining time on the farm in this community. His death came unexpectedly, although his health had been failing the past three months.

Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and four brothers. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, four sons, Howard, Dennis, John, and Clifford. Also, three grandchildren, Ronald, Roger, and Mary, all residing in this community. Two sisters, Mrs. Alice Payne of Verndale, Minn., and Mrs. Rosa Carlisle of Mattoon, Ill. Two brothers, William of Mattoon, Ill., and George of St. James, Minn., plus a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and a good neighbor.

Services were held at Wilson Chapel and the Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, Friday afternoon, two p.m., with the Rev. Harrison G. Dawes, officiating. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
