Adelbert Edwin Woodke

Adelbert Edwin Woodke was born February 21, 1918, at Schaller, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Edith Wyman Woodke.

He was educated in Schaller and graduated from Schaller High School in 1935. He worked in his father's feed mill before attending the Finley Engineering School, Kansas City, Mo., taking a Diesel Electrics Course. He also worked for Central Popcorn Co. and Rininger Seed Corn Co. in Schaller. Before entering the U. S. Army Air Force, May 6, 1942. He was discharged from the service Dec. 8, 1945. He was united in marriage to Clemence Berlyn Morrison at Waycross, Geo., June 21, 1943.

Shortly after discharge, he was employed by the Corn Belt Power Plant at Nuel, Iowa. He started employment with the City of Eagle Grove in 1953. Adelbert was Superintendent of the Water Treatment Plants of Eagle Grove and Woolstock. He died suddenly on Friday, February 22, 1974, while at work in the Eagle Grove plant. At the time of his death, he was 56 years and one day of age.

He is survived by his wife; three brothers, H. Wyman Woodke, Omaha, Neb., Samuel Woodke, Fairbanks, Alaska, Bernard Woodke, Chicago, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. Don Stotler, Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Oliver Wilson, Omaha, Neb.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, The American Legion and the Associated Water Workers of America.

Funeral services were held at, 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25 at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
