Dennis “Denny” Ray Jergenson, 79, of Humboldt, passed away on January 19, 2021 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital under the loving care and compassion of Hospice.

Denny was born on October 6, 1941 in Clarion, Iowa to Selmer “Sam” and Helen (Carter) Jergenson and baptized December 07, 1941 (the day Pearl Harbor was bombed) at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was raised in Goldfield and educated in a one-room county school house in Wright County. He was employed for 43 years at Hagie Manufacturing in Clarion and retired at the age of 70.

He was united in marriage to Kathy (Fortner) at Izaak Walton Park on the banks of the West Des Moines River in Humboldt August 27, 1982. Denny and Kathy enjoyed traveling throughout Iowa with stops at their favorite casinos, seeing antique tractors and farm equipment and visits to see as many Freedom Rocks as they could. Denny enjoyed spending time taking pictures of nature and collecting hats, coins and belt buckles. You would never find Denny far from a fresh Diet Pepsi while spending time with friends, family, his woodworking and enjoying a good BBQ or watching his favorite western movie or do-it-yourself TV show.

One of Denny’s favorite trips he had hoped to experience for a long time was to make it to the beach and ocean, which he was able to experience and enjoy at the wedding of Dana and Michelle in Fort Myers Beach, Florida in 2017. Denny spoke fondly of the time and memories of the trip often.

Denny is survived by his wife Kathy, son Dana (Michelle) Jergenson of Ankeny, brothers Richard “Dick” of Clarion, John of Collinsville, Illinois and Randy of Council Bluffs and many loving nephews, nieces, great nephews, and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces.
