In 1961 Esther returned to Clarion, and made her home there until it became necessary for her to go to a nursing home, first in Dows and later in Clarion.

She passed away at the Heritage Home on April 16, 1973 after being in failing health for several years.

Preceding her in death were six sisters and three brothers. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
