Larry Eugene Nolte, the Son of Virgil and Florence (Busick) Nolte, was born November 17, 1952, in Belmond, IA. Larry was baptized and confirmed at the Goodell United Methodist Church. He was active in FFA during his youth. He attended Goodell Community Schools and graduated from Belmond High School in the Class of 1971. He later was married to Evelyn Anderson and to this union three children were born: Helen, Travis and Chris. The couple later divorced.

Larry was a life long farmer. He enjoyed working the earth and reaping the fruits of his labor. He raised livestock and loved animals. In addition to the usual farm animals, Larry had some unique creatures on the farm such as Peacocks and Chinchillas. Larry enjoyed planting a garden, especially tomatoes and a variety of other produce. In his more active years one might drive by the farm and would see him laying down and planting his seeds in his own unique way. He truly loved nature and the outdoors and all the wonders that it brought with it. He looked forward to fishing outings and enjoyed hunting. A favorite memory he often shared over the years was a bear hunting trip with friends and family from the area. He loved going to dances in earlier years and was a very good polka dancer. Card playing was another pastime that he looked forward to. He often would go to sale barns and most of the time return home with a calf or two. Larry was fairly easy going and mild mannered and loved to be in the mix of a good conversation. His heart was as big as his being and would abound in his love to be with others whatever the occasion. His generosity sometimes was to a fault as he would give of his means more than was necessary. He had a good sense of humor and a gift for conversation. Larry spent many years looking after his mother Florence when his father Virgil died in 1973. They would often attend church together and spent a great deal of time together. If you would see one of them out and about, the other usually was nearby. Following her passing in 2004 Larry continued to live on the family farm until moving to Clarion in 2016.

Larry enjoyed the role of being a grandpa to his children's kids and reflect fondly upon going to Grandpa's farm and all the toys and other things they could do out there. He even taught them to drive at early ages. His neighbors all share that Larry was always a great neighbor and
they could count on him to help out if there was a need. In later years Larry loved to relax on the front porch and watch the passersby.

Larry is survived by his daughter Helen (Troy) Buckley and their children McKenna and Corbyn all of Danville, Indiana; son Travis (Katie) Nolte and their children Kaylee, Cody, Caleb, Collin, and Karlee, all of Goodell, IA, and a son Chris (Kristina) Nolte and their children Hunter and Paisley all of Goodell, IA; his sister Linda (Ron) Kuhlers, Meservey, IA, two nieces Becky (Mark) O'Neil and Melissa (Brian) Bonjour; and his ex-wife Evelyn of Goodell, IA, along with other extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew Ryan Kuhlers, uncle Ben Nolte, and aunts Jennie Retleff and Vera Spade.
