June 1, 1933 ---- April 30, 2019

MASON CITY - Margaret E. McLaughlin, 85, of Mason City, died Tuesday (April 30, 2019) at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday (May 6, 2019) at Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 5th St SE, Mason City, with The Rev. Jacob Rouse as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rockwell. Visitation with public viewing will be held Sunday (May 5, 2019) at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City from 4-6pm. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30pm followed by a Scriptural Wake service. Should friends desire, memorials may be left to Margaret's family for a charity to be chosen later.

Margaret E. Buckley was born June 1, 1933 to Raymond and Meta (Klinge) Buckley in Britt, Iowa. She was raised near Klemme. She graduated from Klemme High School and Hamilton Business College.

On September 27th, 1955 she was united in marriage to Loren “Tony” McLaughlin. The couple was blessed with 8 children. The couple made their home in Mason City before buying a farm near Hanlontown and starting a dairy herd.

Throughout her life she held several jobs. She worked at Park Clinic in the medical records, Answer Iowa as a switch board operator, and Winnebago Ind. For over 25 years before retiring.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, golfing, collecting treasures, playing cards and dancing with Tony, especially the Polka. Margaret was known for her strong morals, her forgiveness and her love for family. She was devoted to her faith being a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Manly and also Epiphany Parishes of Mason City.

Margaret is survived by 8 children: Michael (Jill) McLaughlin of Mason City, Kathy (McLaughlin) Cordle of Loveland, CO, Theresa (Kim) DeWitt of Mason City, Patrick (Wanda) McLaughlin of Manly, John (Monica) McLaughlin of Kensett, Laurie (Rod) Been of Belmond, Charles (Carla) McLaughlin of Mason City and Matthew (Melanie) McLaughlin of Liberty, MO; 22 grandchildren; along with great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her brother Elmer (Marian) Buckley, sister-in-law Donna Buckley, and many other loving relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren “Tony” McLaughlin in 2016, her parents, infant son, and three siblings, Leonard Buckley, Ella Marie Ridder, and Maurice Buckley.
