Mrs. R. H. Lester, 67, a resident of this vicinity for the past twenty-five years, passed away at her home here Sunday morning at 6 o'clock. Mrs. Lester has been a sufferer of heart trouble for the past two years, but had been about her home in her usual health on Saturday. She suffered a sudden attack Sunday and passed away before medical attention could be given.

The deceased is survived by her husband and five children, three daughters and two sons as follow: Mrs. Harold Morton of Grand Junction, Colo.; Mrs Fred Holland of Thornburg, Miss Hattie Lester of Goldfield, Raymond Lester ot Marathon, Harry Lester of Goldfield.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday and at the United Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. R. M. McCracken in charge.

The community was shocked on Sunday morning to learn of the death of Mrs. R. H. Lester at her home at six o’clock this morning. Mrs. Lester has been a victim of heart trouble for several years but had felt as well as usual. At about 5:30 in the morning Mr. Lester was awakened by her hard breathing. Dr. Basinger was called at once but she died in a very short time due to a heart attack. Her daughter, Hattie, who is employed at the teacherage at Renwick, had come Friday evening and had been with her mother and was at her side at her death.

Mrs. Lester was a splendid example of a good Christian woman and was admired and respected by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church on Wednesday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. R. M. McCracken who was assisted by Rev. L. L. Hudson of the Christian church. Burial service was in the family lot in the Glenwood cemetery.

Obituary

Hettie Lewis was born near What Cheer in Mahaska county, Iowa, Nov. 19, 1866, and was one of the oldest of a large family of children born to Albert and Mary Lewis. Here she grew to young womanhood and on October 5, 1887, was united in marriage to Robert Lester of Gibson, Iowa. To this union seven children were born, five of whom survive their mother. They are Mrs. Fred Holland of Thornburg. Iowa, Mrs Harold Morton of Grand Junction, Colo., Harry of Goldfield, Raymond of Marathon, Iowa and Hattie at home, Floyd and Evelyn passing away several years ago within a few months of each other.

Besides her husband and children, she is survived by 12 grandchildren, also two brothers and one sister, Sherm [Sherman] Lewis of What Cheer, Mrs. Alice Bell of Clarion and Albert Lewis of Traverse, Mich.

Mrs. Lester accepted Christ as her personal Saviour when but a young girl and united with the Church of Christ at Indianapolis, Iowa, afterwards uniting with the United Presbyterian church and continuing to live a faithful Christian life. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, always thinking of her loved ones and her one great pleasure was in the home life. Early Sabbath morning, without any warning to her friends and loved ones, she passed to a bright eternity where there is no night.

Funeral services for Mrs. R. H. Lester, who passed away suddenly at her home Sunday of last week were held Wednesday at the U. P. church with Rev. R. M. McCracken in charge. A large group of relatives and friends from a distance attended the services.
