Carroll Nelson, 83, of Britt passed away Friday, July 12, 2002, at her home in Britt, Iowa. Carroll, the daughter of Emil and Lela (Wagner) Schroeder, was born September 7, 1918, in Kanawha, Iowa. Carroll attended Kanawha schools, graduating from Kanawha High School in 1936.
Carroll was united in marriage with Vernon Nelson of August 14, 1941, in Sheffield, Iowa. The couple made their home in Nebraska for a time before moving to Britt in 1956. Carroll was employed as a waitress at the Candy Kithchen in Britt for a number of years. She later was employed as a medical assistant for 15 years first for Dr. Shaw and then Dr. Thede, retiring in the early 1980s.
She enjoyed gardening and housecleaning. Carroll loved to cook and was a very good cook. Carroll said she wanted to be remembered for her sense of humor.
Carroll is survived by her son Gary Nelson and his wife, Linda of Kasson, Minnesota; granddaughter Cassandra Nelson of Kasson, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon Nels Nelson (1976), two sisters: Betty Ann and Evelyn; three brothers: Rollin (Bud), Robert (Ike), and James.
