Betty Ann (nee Holtan) Heyerdahl

October 7, 1930 - July 4, 2018

Betty Ann Heyerdahl, age 87, of Reedsburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Casa de Oakes, Reedsburg.

She was born on October 7, 1930, in Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Mable (Halverson) Holtan. She grew up on a farm near Fertile, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1948. Betty later graduated from Waldorf College where she met her husband, Lawrence Heyerdahl. They married on May 31, 1950. This marriage was blessed with six children. Lawrence preceded her in death.

Betty was a homemaker, raising and caring for her family was her greatest joy. She was a devoted wife and mother. Betty was a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Green Bay and currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Reedsburg. She enjoyed participating in Lutheran Women's activities as well as church choir in the various Lutheran Churches of which she was a member.

Betty was a phenomenal embroiderer, and was a member of the Embroiderers Guild of America. She helped organized EGA regional seminars at which she was an instructor. She enjoyed baking, playing bridge, golfing and also cherished the many friendships she made while spending winters in Florida.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark; brother, Arvid Holtan; and sister, Norma Wakeley.

Betty is survived by her children and their spouses: Dr. Dan (Karen) Heyerdahl of Santa Barbara, CA; Nancy (Jeffrey) Bump of La Valle, WI; Douglas (Jill) Heyerdahl of Cedar Creek, TX; Timothy (Kelly) Heyerdahl of Alpharetta, GA; Steven (Darcy) Heyerdahl of Indianapolis, IN; Daughter-in-law, Debra Heyerdahl of La Valle, WI; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Betty A. Heyerdahl will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 9, 2018, at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 10, in Luther Valley Church Cemetery, Beloit. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted for an educational scholarship in Betty's name.

Farber Funeral Home of Reedsburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
