Carolyn LaVonne (nee Simon) Zobel, 66, of Manly passed away June 5, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa surrounded by her family.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 428 West Walnut Street , Manly, IA, 50456 with Reverend Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.

Carolyn LaVonne Zobel was born on November 19, 1951 to Roy and Grace (Hendry) Simon in Osage, Ia. Her younger years were spent growing up in Elma, until she and her mother moved to Mason City following her father's passing. She attended Monroe Middle School and Mason City High School.

This is where she met the love of her life, Marvin Zobel. They were married on April 27, 1968. Together they had four children, Sherry, Karen, Peggy, and John. The two were inseparable. Carolyn was a stay at home mom, raising her four kids from home. Following Marvin's retirement, the two could be found fishing, hunting, or simply just being together. They had a love to be envious of.

Carolyn's family was her life. She had a love for spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They would spend time outdoors: hunting, fishing, ice fishing. She was known for her baking and potato salad, her pumpkin pie was something to look forward to come the Holidays. Most of all, Carolyn was a giver.

She was constantly worrying about other's well-being, making sure her family had the best, even if it meant not receiving herself. She found it difficult to have others worrying about her, even in her final moments, assuring everyone that it would be okay, that she loved them, and not to worry about her.

In 2017, Carolyn was diagnosed with Leukemia. She fought a long hard battle with her family beside her.

Those left to cherish her memory: her husband of 50 loving years, Marvin; children, Sherry (Jim) Strong of Waukee, IA, Karen Weber of Waterloo, IA, Peggy (Brandon) Scroggins of Fountain, CO, and John Zobel of Hiawatha, IA; grandchildren, Acasia, Jacob, Sebastian, Jordan, Courtney, Elizabeth, Brooke, and Ryker; great-grandchildren, Brynleigh, Brielle, Kegan, Avarey, and Austin; as well as extended family members and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Roy and Grace (Hendry) Simon, siblings, William “Bill” Simon and Ruby (Henry) Gailing, and Marvin's parents, Marvin and Marval (Sampson) Zobel.
