Esther Alvina Helen Springer

July 2, 1925 - February 08, 2018

Northwood, Iowa – Esther Alvina Helen Springer, 92, Northwood, died Thursday, February 08, 2018, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, with Reverend Judy Converse of First Lutheran Church in Northwood officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in the spring at the Colfax Cemetery in Vincent, Iowa.

Esther Alvina Helen Springer was born on July 2, 1925, in Vincent, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Elsie (Manke) Michehl. Esther attended grade school in Vincent, and graduated from Ft. Dodge High School. She was united in marriage to John Springer on April 7, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa. John preceded her in death on March 28, 2009.

Esther worked for JC Penney, Johnson and Johnson, Coca Cola Bottling Company, DeKalb Seed Company for many years detasseling corn, and sorting grain in Humboldt, Iowa, and as a cook for various nursing homes in Iowa.

Esther enjoyed sewing, cooking crocheting, knitting, playing cards, gardening, and fishing and living at Sprit Lake, Iowa.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Don (Sue) Springer of Richmond, VA, Mary Lotts of Greenbrier, TN, and Kevin (Laurie) Springer of Northwood; her grandchildren, Mike (Laura) Fevold of Bowling Green, KY, Ed (Meredith) Fevold of Old Hickory, TN, Jacob (Sarah) Springer, and Morgan Springer of Northwood, Kurt Springer of Sioux Falls, SD, Jeanette (Wayne) Camden of Chesterfield, VA, and Donald Springer, Jr, of Newport News, VA; her great-grandchildren, Drew and Taylor Fevold, Ashleigh Fevold, Anthony (Jorden) Johnson, Jessica Johnson, and Ashley and Coty Springer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elsie Michehl, her husband John Springer, great-granddaughter, Isabella Fevold, great-grandson, Timothy Johnson, son-in-law, John Lotts, sisters and brothers, Lucille Stockdale, and Marvin Michehl, sisters-in-law, Ruby Springer, Ruth Jones, and Evelyn Hoyt, brothers-in-law, Warren Hoyt, Clarence C.A. Hap Springer, Eugene “Gene” Springer, and Tom Stockdale.
