In 1869 Mr. Littlefield left his native state and emigrated to Boston where he secured employment in a groecery store. He remained in Boston seven years and then came to Iowa and settled in Northwood. In 1877 he opened a general merchandise store which store still flourishes at the original location with the same genial proprietor behind the counter. It lacks but a few months till the thirtieth anniversary of that event.

On the 19th day of November 1876 Mr. Littlefield was joined in marriage with Miss Etta W. Walker, only daughter of Hou. A. C. Walker, whose life sketch will be found elsewhere in this volume. Mrs. Littlefield has always joined with her husband in his business enterprises and she now conducts a fine millinery parlor on the second floor of the same building.

Mr. Littlefield is a prominent Mason and a member of the I. O. O. F. and takes great interest in the work of these orders. In politics he is a republican.
