I did some looking for you. It appears his parents were divorced. In his delayed Iowa birth record registered in Iowa and signed by him on March 10, 1942, Theodore Anderson listed his parents as Carl Reynold Anderson and Lula Dorothy Haupt. In censuses in 1920 he was "Theodore Anderson" and in 1925 he was "Theodore King."
His parents, Carl Edward Reynold Anderson and Lula Dorothy Haupt were married on October 23, 1909 in Dakota City, Nebraska by Rev. William C. Eckhart. Carl was born on May 16, 1891 in Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa to Johannes Anderson and Annie Bertha (Larson) Anderson. In Swedish-American church records, he was known as Karl Edvard Reinholdt Anderson. Carl and Lula’s son, Theodore Reynold Anderson was born on March 7, 1910 in Sioux City and Baptised on March 20, 1910 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City. They moved to Detroit, Michigan where a daughter, Dorothy Anderson was born on June 12, 1912. They then divorced and Lula Dorothy (Haupt) Anderson married Francis James King on August 31, 1916 in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Carl E. R. Anderson continued to live in Detroit and in Norfolk, Virginia and was recorded in Detroit in 1942 for the World War II Draft registration and a Social Security Claim was made on June 18, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan, under Social Security # 362-07-7496 for Carl Edward Anderson born May 16, 1891. Carl remarried Maude (Morsberger) Padgett, widow of Early Padgett on February 26, 1926 in Lucas County, Ohio. Early had died five weeks before on January 14, 1926 in Washington, DC. Carl Anderson was living in Norfolk, Virginia at the time of his marriage to Maude Padgett. Carl E. Anderson worked as a steam fitter for the electric company and an insurance salesman.
Lula Dorothy (Haupt) Anderson King was born on May 10, 1892 in Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa to Adolph Haupt and Nellie (Hitchcock) Haupt. She died in San Diego, California on November 17, 1960 recorded as Dorothy L. King and Social Security # 560-16-3997.
