BRONSON, Iowa -- Elmer M. Brown, 74, of Bronson, died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at his home in Bronson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church at Bronson. The Rev. Robert E. Peters will officiate. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery at Lawton under direction of the Mc Culloch Funeral Home at Moville.

Mr. Brown was born April 18, 1907, at Bronson and graduated from Bronson High School.

He married Alice Shoemaker June 5, 1935, at Bronson. They made their home at Bronson. He had been a school bus driver for many years for Bronson school system. He was a carpenter and had been a rural mail carrier. He was Branson's first mayor and Branson's first fire chief, serving in that capacity for 30 years.

Mr. Brown was chairman of Floyd Township Trustees for 11 years and had been a deacon, elder and trustee of Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church. He served two years with the 813th American Air Force Detachment at Warrensburg, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Dianne) Schlotman and Mrs. David (Lynnelle) Amick and five grandchildren.
