Charles M. Ellsworth

Charles M. Ellsworth, 70, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996, at his residence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Kapanka, pastor at Calvary Lutheran Church, officiating. The body will be cremated. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Ellsworth was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Sioux City, the son of Alva G. and Freda (Cassen) Ellsworth. He attended Leeds High School. He married Deloris M. Stier on Jan. 3, 1948, in Sioux City. He was a truck driver employed with Standard Ready Mix, Red Ball Transportation, and in the later years, he operated his own truck. He retired around 1981. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinal Farm team, and was an avid sports fan and bowler.

He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Bill Hesebeck of Blue Springs, Mo.; his mother of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Donald and Lois of Sioux City; two sisters, Joyce and her husband Milton Cleary of Sergeant Bluff and Marie Lorenzen of Sioux City; and two grandchildren, Amanda and Michael Hesebeck.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Harry.

Memorials may be made to the Siouxland Regional Cancer Center.
