SIOUX CITY - Arlan F. Danne, 68, of Kirkland, Wash., formerly of Sioux City, passed away peacefully in Kirkland on Friday, May 22, 2009.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7355 120th Avenue NE in Kirkland, followed by a reception at the parish center.

Arlan was born on Mother's Day, May 11, 1941, in Sioux City, to Arnold and Minnie Danne. He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, and went on to graduate with a bachelor of arts degree in American Studies from Grinnell College. Arlan loved playing football and played on his high school team and college team. After college, he joined the U.S. Army in January 1964, which brought him to Seattle. He served for three years, reaching the rank of Sergeant E-5. The last of year of his service was spent in Vietnam, where in his spare time, he taught English.

After Vietnam, he returned to the Pacific Northwest and began his career in the insurance industry. He worked first at Aetna, then PEMCO, Jefferson Standard, and finally opened his own agency, Arlan Danne & Associates. Arlan served his clients for more than 38 years before retiring in December 2008. Arlan enjoyed Seattle Seahawks football games, watching spectator sports, spending time with friends, camping trips with his family, weekend trips, fishing trips, barbecuing and cooking.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia Danne; a sister, Beverly Crooks; a brother, Doug Danne; a son, Carter Danne; and a granddaughter, Casey Chisholm.

Arlan was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Derek Danne.
