Lorraine 'Billie' Rodeen

SIOUX CITY - Lorraine A. "Billie"' Rodeen, 93, of Sioux City died Friday, May 22, 2009, at a local hospital following a sudden stroke.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June l, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, with Rev. Craig Bock officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Lorraine was born June 28, 1915, in Omaha, Neb. She attended Sioux City Schools and graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School. She married Kenneth J. Rodeen on Feb. 4, 1935. He died on Oct. 14, 1985. She assisted her husband in the operation of their family grocery business on Court Street and in Morningside. She enjoyed attending the activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her earlier years, she enjoyed making and painting ceramics.

Mrs. Rodeen was a charter member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, receiving a life membership pin for her services, a 50-year member of Morningside Order of Eastern Star, a past president of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Abu Bekr Shrine Women's Auxiliary, Abu Bekr Foot Patrol Auxiliary, a past Mother Advisor of Morningside Rainbow Girls and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include a son, John and his wife, Arlene of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; a daughter, Jean Munro and her husband, Dave of La Quinta, Calif.; four grandchildren, Lori Marx and her husband, Doug of Sioux City, Kim Long and Dr. Bob Kuckel of Omaha, Scott Urban and his wife, Diane of San Diego, Calif., and Todd Urban and his wife, Ileen of San Jose, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren, Ben and Corrine Villim, Nick, Amie and Natalie Long, Ryan and Nicole Urban and Jacob, Sarah and Ben Urban; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Connie; sisters, Lola and Doris; and brothers, Robert and Phil.

Memorials may be sent to St. Luke Lutheran Church, Hospice of Siouxland and Abu Bekr Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund.
