SOUTH SIOUX CITY (Died Sioux City) -Elaine Kingston, 77, of South Sioux City passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Dakota City, with the Rev. Judith Wascher officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Elaine was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Sioux City, the daughter of Steve and Ida (Reich) Stavrou. She graduated from Central High School and Briar Cliff College.

She married Richard W. "Bud" Kingston on April 25, 1953, in Sioux City. She owned and operated a crop and hail insurance agency in the surrounding area. She also was employed for Manpower Employment Agency, retiring in 1995.

She was a former member of the Greek Orthodox Church.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Richard Steven and Cathy Kingston of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Jerry Copple of Dakota City; a brother and his wife, Gus and Paula Stavrou of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Martha Hoch of South Sioux City; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Cody, Stephany, Katie and Kyle; and a great-granddaughter, Jada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud on Nov. 17, 2006, in Sioux City; a brother, Clayton Brown; and two sisters, Ethel Lipton and Marion Thompson.

Pallbearers will be Michael Steenson, Rod Rohde, Andy and Dan Lux and Rod and Greg Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hamlin, Joel Weiss and Rich Owens.
