SIOUX CITY - Ruth I. Ralya, 84, of Keokuk, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2009, at the Ozark Riverview Manor in Ozark, Mo.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel, 4500 S. Long Pine, Springfield, Mo. Burial will be in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online to

Ruth was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Sioux City, to Edwin and Tressie (Liston) Rochester. She was married for 62 years to her loving husband, Earl. She owned and operated Jack & Jill Nursery School for 13 years in Keokuk. The couple had lived at Heritage Lake in Indiana for nearly 20 years.

She enjoyed gardening, dancing, golfing and fishing. Most of all, she enjoyed her family. She was active in the Elk Lodge in Keokuk. She truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

She is survived by her sons, Tom and his wife Jackie and Lee and his wife Gail; daughters, Rita O'Brien and Tressa and her husband Steve Reisetter; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one due in November; and a brother, Jim Rochester and his wife Dee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; a sister, Betty Lafferty; and a brother, Ed Rochester.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 Michigan Avenue, Fl 17, Chicago, IL. 60601.
