James D. Dalcourt

SIOUX CITY - James D. Dalcourt, 54, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

James was born Aug. 12, 1954, in Sioux City, the son of Ronald and JoAnn (Gordon) Dalcourt. He graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He married Linda Homer in 1983 in Sioux City. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail processor for 21 years, retiring in 2002.

He loved collecting eagles and spending time with friends. He was a member of the Deaf Club.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Dawn and Korey Gooley of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, William and Nancy Dalcourt; two granddaughters, Adrianna and JoAnna Gooley; a step-grandson, Benjamin Henry; four nieces; and five grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
