SERGEANT BLUFF -- Mildred Miller, 86, beloved mother from Sergeant Bluff, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Embassy Care Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church, with the Rev. William J. Vit Jr. officiating. Following the service Monday, the body will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Millie was born June 3, 1922, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ray and Margaret (Neary) Draper. At the age of two, she was adopted by her uncle Joe and aunt Mable Neary. She graduated from Cathedral High School.

She was married to William H. Miller in 1946. They were married for 55 years, when William passed away in 1999, in Smithland, Iowa. Besides being a homemaker, she was a waitress for 10 years at the Walgreen's Wig-Wam Grill.

She was a member of Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church. She loved to do crossword puzzles, play the piano, listen to big band music, reading and taking care of her grandkids.

Survivors include seven children, Billie (Bruce) Homer of South Sioux City, Herb (Dorothy) Miller of Sloan, Iowa, Mary Ellen (Jim) Crichton of Sioux City, Patricia Miller of Carroll, Iowa, Earl (JoAnn) Miller of Mesa, Ariz., Connie Nelson of Sergeant Bluff and Jody Miller of Sioux City; a stepdaughter, Terry Lillie of Houston, Texas; three special nephews, Dennis and John Seek and Ed Redenius; special nieces, Marilyn Russell and Jean Marie Cosmano; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six sisters, Josephine Hansen, Alberta Seek, Frances Ramsey, Jean Cosmano, Wilma Reynolds and Rita Owens; and two granddaughters, Nancy Miller and Terri Margaret Crichton.
