SIOUX CITY -- Lowell Lamoureux, 77, of Shreveport, La., formerly of Sioux City, died Nov. 29, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services will be noon Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Lowell was born June 1, 1931, in Sloan, Iowa, to Milford and Leona (LaCroix) Lamoureux. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Salix in May 1950.

He married Joyce Beauchene on Sept. 16, 1950. He later married Bonnie Wilde on May 8, 1970. She preceded him in death Dec. 7, 2000. He retired from the Sioux City Transit System in June 1993. The couple then enjoyed many winters at River Lodge Resort in Parker Dam, Calif.

He is survived by two brothers, Ed (Dorothy) Lamoureux and Mike (Sue) Lamoureux of Salix; two sisters, Bunny (Sam) McLarty of Sergeant Bluff and Marilee Thelan and her friend, Larry Bieschke of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Charles (Sandy) Gurnsey of Sioux City; his children, Linda Hussell of St. Cloud, Fla., Jerry Lamoureux of Bullhead City, Ariz., Bobbie Stephens of Tehachapi, Calif., Tony (Nina) Lamoureux of Jackson, Mo., Jeanne (Steve) Jacobson, Ellen Church, Delvin (Joni) Wilde, David Wilde, Danny (Sue) Wilde, Larry (Cindy) Wilde, all of Sioux City; 33 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Raymond Lamoureux; a sister, Marilyn Lamoureux; his wife, Bonnie; two sons, Terry and George Church; two brothers-in-law, Ed and Don Gurnsey; and a grandchild, Angel Wilde.
