WINNEBAGO, Neb. -- Vincent "Ku-nu" Hunter, 49, of Winnebago passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Ho-Chunk Community Center in Winnebago, with Donald Piltcher officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with a Native American Church service Sunday evening, at the Ho-Chunk Community Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Winnebago Wake and Burial Program and Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender, Neb.

Ku-nu lived most of his life in Winnebago. He graduated from high school at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M., in 1977. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1983 to 1989. He was a certified iron worker and craftsman.

Survivors include his mother, Yvonne Reinhart of Winnebago; his sisters, Leah Hunter of Winnebago and Dyan Reinhart of Sioux City; a daughter; other relatives; and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William "Billy" Hunter; paternal grandparents, William E. and Louise (Rouge) Hunter; and maternal grandparents, William W. St. Cyr and Esther (Hensley) John.
