Oto, Iowa – Olive Vivian Slentz, 92, of Oto, died Monday, November 24, 1997, at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Correctionville, Iowa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oto United Church of Christ with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Oto City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:30 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa.

Mrs. Slentz was born April 20, 1905 near Oto, the daughter of John Conrad and Mabel Florence (Moses) Neumayer. She married Roy earl Slentz on June 18, 1925 in Mapleton, Iowa. The couple lived in the Mapleton, Smithland and Oto area. He died April 20, 1985.

She was a member of United Church of Christ, where she was active in the Mite Society and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors, the Oto Birthday Club, past president of the Oto American Legion Auxiliary and the Cemetery Society. She was an accomplished artist and a charter member of the Sioux City Art Center. She enjoyed painting, writing poetry and gardening.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Kenneth Roy and Dorothy of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and Kendell Oliver and Doris of Thomson, Illinois; two daughters and their husbands, Zella Kay and Albert Copley of Mercedes, Texas and Gayla Sue and John Wilson of Anthon, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a sister and her husband, Opal and Arnold Brandt of Holstein, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three daughters, Karon and Sharon, twin sisters and LaVonne, a grandson, Alan, three brothers and four sisters.
