Dorcus E. Haggerty, 73, of Sioux City died Tuesday, November 25, 1997 at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Private services will be held. Cremation will follow the service. There will be no visitation. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Haggerty was born January 28, 1924, in Sioux City, the daughter of Elmer and Marjorie (Loring) Jackson. She graduated from Central High School in 1942 and attended the University of Iowa.

She married Russell H. Haggerty on November 26, 1947, in Sioux City. She was employed with Armour Packing Company, Sioux City Credit Bureau, the Sioux City Public School District and the City of Sioux City.

She was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the P.T.A., 4-H, the Council of Community Services, past president of the Rainbow, the Compassionate Friends and the Easter Seals. She worked with the Polio Foundation and the American Kennel Club. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her husband, a daughter and her husband, Cynthia and Thomas Karns of Elizabeth Colorado and a son and his wife, Jack and Kim of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Leslie A. Haggerty.
