Sloan, Iowa -- Kenneth L. Peterson, 50, of Sloan died Friday, December 31, 1999 at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa with the Rev. Donald Slaven officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery in Auburn, Washington. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home in Sioux City. The body will then be taken to St. Joseph Church at 5:30 p.m. where visitation will continue. A parish vigil service will be said at 7 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Peterson was born August 10, 1949 in Sioux City, the son of Wayne and EllaBelle (Brouilette) Peterson. He was raised in Sloan and graduated from Westwood High School in 1967. He was also the Westwood Prom King in 1967. He attended Norfolk Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska.

He joined the Navy in 1969 and was stationed out of Key West, Florida. He served on the submarines USS Cabra and USS Grenadier and was discharge from the service in 1972.

He worked as a carpenter in Sioux City and in Washington State.

He married Kathy Forst on July 19, 1976 in Salix. She died April 22, 1986 in Auburn, Washington. He married Diane Mitchell on June 30, 1989 in Oto, Iowa. He moved to Auburn in 1978, returning to Sloan in 1995.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix and was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union Local 948. He was also a member of the American Legion Post in Sergeant Bluff.

Survivors include his parents, four sons, Jesse and his fiancée, Ellen of Orting, Washington, Corey of Auburn, Washington, Casey of Missoula, Mont., and Barry of Sloan, two daughters, Katie of Auburn, Washington and Sarah of Sloan, three brothers, Ron and his wife, Kim of Puyallup, Washington, Gary of Sloan and Raymond of San Antonio, four sisters, Barbara and her husband, Jerry Walton of Citrus Heights, California, Beverly and her husband Brad Rhodes of Puyallup, Washington, Peggy Snow of Sloan and Marsha of Sioux City and a grandson, Austin Peterson.

He was preceded by a brother, Joseph and a sister, Mary.

Pallbearers will be Larry and Stanley Johnson, Dennis and Jerry Brouilette and Russell and Kirk Hulzman.
