SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Maxine N. Hale, 81, of South Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Shaw of Fremont Nazarene Church officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, Neb. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Maxine Nellie Weaver was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Decatur, Neb., to Willie and Ethel (Andersen) Weaver. She graduated from Decatur High School.

She married Lloyd O. Hale on Feb. 5, 1943, in Tekamah, Neb. She was employed as a dietitian at Emerson (Neb.) Care Center for a number of years.

She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur, Neb., and enjoyed playing cards with the family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Tony and his wife, Donna of Fremont, Neb., Jack of Wilber, Neb., and Joe and his companion, Anna of Uvalde, Texas; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Gil Frey of Wahoo, Neb., and Connie Woeten of Hornick, Iowa; two brothers, Ted Weaver and his wife, Rita of South Sioux City and Dale Weaver of Norfolk, Neb.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Retha Curry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd on Jan. 31, 1991 in Sioux City; and a son, Dennis.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jason, Jeff and Denny Hale, Matt Frey, T.J. Woeten and Bob Leffler.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the Fremont Nazarene Church, 960 N. Johnson Road, Fremont, NE. 68025 or to the family.
