John Joseph Skuya, 90, of Manchester, Tenn., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Coffee County Funeral Chapel in Manchester, with Brother Tony Lee Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Farrar Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online to www.coffeecountyfuneralchapel.com.

Mr. Skuya was born Aug. 21, 1916, in Charleston, W.Va., the son of the late Michael Skuya and Patricia Ann King Zebas. He was retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad as a brake repairman and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Sioux City.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Banks Skuya of Manchester; five children, John Edward (Nancy) Skuya of Dayton, Ohio, Shirley (Harold) Duncan of Manchester, Danny (Cheryl) Skuya of Manchester, Diane (JC) Alexander of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Arlene (Jerry) Miller of Wildomar, Calif.; grandchildren, Robert Skuya, Joanne Skuya, Tammy Rooker, Christina Duncan, Michelle Duncan, Cindy Houck, Keith Florida, Kenneth Florida, Pamela Florida, Rebekkah Buchanan, Daniel Skuya, Jesse Skuya, Jeremiah Skuya, Darrell John Alexander, Brian Alexander, Christopher Alexander, Stephanie Habben and Jennifer Habben; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Tony Skuya; and three sisters, Ann Yuzanes, Solphia White and Emma Dragon.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Florida.

The family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
