22 November 2006Kenneth R. Hanika Sr., 61, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at his daughter's home in Sioux City.
Visitation with the family present will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. No other services are planned. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Kenneth was born Dec. 27, 1944, in Auburn, Neb., to Melvin and Leota (Roberts) Hanika. He grew up and attended school in Auburn and Nebraska City areas. He drove truck for Brower Construction Company for 17 years.
He was known as "Custer" on the CB and always had Custer on his trucks. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races on television. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Tonya Hanika, Kenneth Hanika Jr., Rea Hanika, Donnie Meeves and Gaylene Meeves, all of Sioux City, Julie Fitzgerald of California, Tara "Susie" Taylor of Sioux City and Johnathon Hanika of Laurel, Neb.; three ex-wives; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; an infant daughter; and a niece.
