Robert Brian Berzina, 62, of Sioux City died of cardiac arrest Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, in Beloit, Kan., while on a hunting trip.

Services will be 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Chapel, 1703 W. 25th Street, with the Rev. Dennis W. Meinen officiating. The body will be cremated following the service Saturday. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Merrill Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating, at Christy-Smith Larkin Northside Chapel.

Bob was born July 11, 1944, in Omaha, the son of Elmer J. and Mary E. (Halloran) Berzina. He moved with his family to Sioux City as a small child. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Heelan High School in 1962. He attended the University of South Dakota. He lived in Sioux City until the mid 1960s, when he moved to the Minneapolis area. He returned to Sioux City in the mid 1970s.

He married Carol K. Johnston on April 29, 1978, in Joplin, Mo. He was employed with Davis Lighting in Minneapolis. He was employed at A.G.P. as a plant supervisor from the late 1970s to the late 1980s. He began working for Bomgaars as a warehouse supervisor. He retired from Bomgaars in 2005. Later that year he began working at Scheels as a freight supervisor and continued in that position until his death.

He enjoyed his classic cars, hunting with his family and friends and nature. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds and his dog, Brodie. He liked his '60s music and enjoyed NASCAR. He especially loved his wife, Carol, and his daughter, Erin and enjoyed cooking for them as well as his extended family.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of Sioux City; his daughter, Erin of Las Vegas, Nev.; his father, Elmer J. Berzina of Sioux City; his brothers and their wives, James and Carol Berzina of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Richard and Paula Berzina of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters and their husbands, Carol Ann and Gene Buboltz of Cold Springs, Minn., and Kathee and Galen Payne of Lincoln, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Linda Berzina of Rapid City, S.D.; eight nephews; and four nieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Evelyn Berzina; and a brother, Joseph Berzina.

Pallbearers will be Jim and Rick Berzina, Gene Buboltz, Galen Payne, David Berzina and Jeff Berzina.
