THE SILENT REAPER.
On Thursday, March 15, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Tollefson in Calmar township, where she had made her home since last May, Mrs. Anna H. Barlow, one of the early residents of Madison township, passed away. Mrs. Barlow’s maiden name was Anna H. Jacobson. She was born on October 27, 1838, in Borgund, Norway, and came to America in the spring of 1866. She was married in March, 1867, to Haaken H. Barlow. In the spring of 1868 they moved onto their farm in Madison township, where they resided throughout the remainder of their married life. Mr. Barlow died July 22, 1910. Since 1922 Mrs. Barlow has made her home with relatives and friends. She is survived by an adopted son Knut T. Barlow, who resides a few miles south of Decorah, and one sister, Mrs. Betsey Johnson, of Decorah. The funeral was held on Sunday last, March 18, at the Union Prairie church, and interment was made in the cemetery near by, Rev. O. E. Mrs. Haaken Barlow, one of Madison’s early residents, died March 15th at the Tollef Tollefson home in Calmar township at the age of 78 years. Mr. Barlow preceded her in death seven years. She is survived by an adopted son and one sister, Mrs. Betsy Johnson of Decorah.
