Mr. and Mrs. Mons Tweet, Mrs. Oscar Simonson and Mr. and Mrs. Engebret Peterson, all of Locust, passed through Decorah yesterday on their way home from Madison township where they attended the funeral of Johan Fretheim.

THE SILENT REAPER.
Another old resident of Madison township, Johan Fretheim also passed away on Thursday last, after an illness of more than a year. He was born in Sogn, Norway, and was about seventy years of age. Beside his wife, he is survived by six sons,--Henry, Anders, Albert, Edward, Johan and Elling,--and three daughters, Mrs. Anna Tonsgaard, El Campo, Texas, Mrs. Ida Osmundson residing in Allamakee county, and Miss Nettie Fretheim at home.Source: Decorah Republican Mar. 22, 1917, P7 C2
Tuesday, March 13, John Fretheim passed away at his home in Madison township, having been in poor health for more than a years. To-day, March 20, he was laid to rest in the Madison cemetery. He leaves to mourn his departure a wife, six sons and three daughters, two sisters and several grandchildren. We are without further particulars.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 16, 1835 and died Mar. 13, 1927. He is buried in the Madison Lutheran Cemetery. It also shows his name as Johannes.
