David Alan Ryan was born on March 10, 1966, in Cresco, Iowa to Helen and Ronald Ryan. He grew up on a farm north of Decorah, IA. Dave attended grade school and graduated from North Winneshiek. He married Esther Christopher and together they had one son: Justin. They later divorced. He later married Tracy Ward on April 24, 1993, and they had two children: Natasha and Austin.

Dave worked for Holland Bros. and later JB Holland for many years until he started his own business (David Ryan Construction). Dave and his son Austin worked side by side for eleven years and loved the work they were able to do with many of the area farmers and the DNR. Dave was especially proud of the land north of Burr Oak that he and Tracy purchased and then built a pond and later transformed into a private campground (Pond-a-Ryan) for friends and family. Many fond memories were made whether it was watching grandchildren swim or late nights and stories around a campfire that will always be cherished.

Family was always the biggest priority, especially his grandchildren. Dave enjoyed traveling, especially the annual family trip to Hayward, WI. Some of the other trips he was fondest of included: Mexico, Florida, South Dakota, and Rome, where he had the opportunity to see the Pope.

Dave was a hardworking and loving man. He will be greatly missed by many friends and his family. Being with family and friends made his life PERFECT.

Dave is survived by his wife Tracy. Children: Justin (Kourtney) Ryan, Schley, IA; Natasha (Taylor Reicks) Ryan, Burr Oak, IA and Austin (Alyssa) Ryan, Burr Oak, IA. Grandchildren: Zoey, Harper, Oaklee, Zayla, Lyla, Elowyn, Tripp, Leah and baby #9 on the way. Mother: Helen Kappes, Burr Oak, IA. Stepmother: Elaine Ryan, Cresco, IA.
