Death came to John W. Mikesh Friday, Oct. 10th, 1903, at 7:30 a. m., at his home on the farm north of Spillville. He was ill for over two weeks, which started from a gangreneous{sic} toe. He was born at Sepekov, Bohemia, about 73 years ago, and came to America in the spring of 1854. About forty-three years ago the deceased was married to Miss Frances Janoush at Spillville. To them were born five children, Albert and John of Protivin and Lewis who is at home, and Mrs. Louis Benda of Spillville and Mrs. Will Mikota west of town. John Mikesh was a soldier in the civil war under Sherman many years ago. The funeral occurred Sunday at 2 o’clock, p. m., interment being held from the St. Wenceslaus church, Rev. Ballon officiating. The pall bearers were Jos. Mikesh, Simon Michael, Frank Kulish, Mat Tupy, Frank Chejka, and Albert Novak. Mrs. John Mikesh and children have the sympathy of many friends in their great bereavement.
