THE SILENT REAPER.
MRS. MARTIN HAFF
Mrs. Marstin Haff, one of the old and well known residents of the west side, died last Thursday morning after an illness of several weeks from softening of the brain.
Mrs. Haff’s maiden name was Mary Mayan and she was born in Germany, May 5, 1837. She came to America in 1857 locating in Montgomery Co., Pa., where she was married to Martin Haff in 1858. In 1860 they came to Iowa to make their home and here they have remained. Mr. and Mrs. Haff would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in May had she survived, and her death makes the first break in the family circle. She is survived by her husband and eight children—Miss Susan Haff, Mrs. Rose Dinger, Mrs. Lena Glover of Decorah, Mrs. Mary Millbach of Walker, Iowa, John, Joseph and Fred of Minneapolis and Louis of Colfax, Wash. There are also twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Haff was a good mother and a loving wife whose presence in the family home will be truly missed.
