Darlene Dickman, age 86, of Decorah, IA died on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Wellington Place in Decorah.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the Salem United Church of Christ, 1097 Pole Line Road, Waukon, IA with Rev. Sue Klimstra presiding. Burial will be in the Salem cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00pm on Monday, June 20, 2022, at the Helms Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah and also after 10:00am at the church on Tuesday morning.

Darlene Mae (Stuckman) Dickman was born on December 12, 1935, the daughter of George and Alta (Winkie) Stuckman in Waukon, IA. She attended Ludlow #5 grade school and graduated from Waukon High School in 1954. Darlene married Norman Dickman on June 2, 1955. They spent sixty-three years of marriage on the family farm before Norman’s passing in 2019. In 1970, she graduated from the Area 1 Community College Nursing Program. She would go on to work at Winneshiek County Hospital for twenty-four years and later for Gundersen Clinic for two years. Darlene served on the FSA board for nine years and was also the bookkeeper of DHIA for forty-seven years. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ where she served on the church council and was a member of the Women’s Fellowship Choir. She and Norman belonged to the Rivers and Bluffs Classic Tractor Association, and she loved to drive her 656 Farmall. Darlene was proud of winning first place at the National Beef Cookoff with her German Beef Sausage. Norman and Darlene went fishing for forty years in Minnesota and spent twenty-eight years in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the cold winter months. She and Norman were also part of the “Birthday Club” where they would get together with neighboring couples to celebrate birthdays every month for forty years. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Darlene is survived by her daughters: Dawn (Walt) Konetzka, Prospect, KY and Denise (Monty Wilder) Buddenberg, Decorah, IA. Grandchildren: Josh (Amy) Buddenberg, Decorah, IA, Zac Buddenberg, San Diego, CA and Julie Buddenberg, Decorah, IA. Great grandchildren: Emmett and Brett Buddenberg, Austin Keck. Sister-in-law: Ellen Dickman, Minot, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Norman Dickman in 2019. Daughter: Diane Dickman. Parents: George and Alta (Winkie) Stuckman. Brothers: Harlan and Roger Stuckman. Father and mother-in-law: Edward and Lucy (Dull) Dickman. Brothers-in-law: Edward (Bev) Dickman and Douglas Dickman. Sister-in-law: Lillian Dickman.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wellington Place for their excellent care, attention and service.
