HOVEY.
Theodore Olender Hovey was born Sept 5, 1893, died Aug. 6th, 1915 at the home of his parents in Orleans twp., Winneshiek Co., Iowa. Theodore was the oldest son of Ole Hovey and wife, nee Benson. He reached the age of 22 years, 11 months and one day. He was a quiet, unassuming Christian young man who attended to his work without any boasting. His untimely death came as a shock to his family and his friends alike. Only a few days previous to his death he was hard at work with his duties as an up-to-date farmer.
His health was always the best so that when death came in less than ten days, no one expected it Theodore was a member of the Orleans Lutheran church where he had been baptized and confirmed. At the time of his death he was the president of the Young People's society of that church.
The funeral took place Monday, Aug. 9th, at 1 o’clock p. m., at the home and 2 p. m. at the church, Rev. H. M. Normann, of Cresco, officiating.
The funeral was a large one and the floral decorations many and beautiful, especially fine being the Gates Ajar from the Young People’s society.
May the Lord comfort the hearts of the bereaved. He is survived by his father and mother, four sisters and a little brother..
