Michael L. Lechtenberg, age 64, of Festina, IA, died on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his home.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the Festina Parish Center in Festina and also after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning at the Parish Center. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 2351 County Road B32 in Festina, IA with Rev. Dan Knipper presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Michael Lee Lechtenberg was born on March 7, 1954 the son of Norbert and Flavia (Boyer) Lechtenberg in New Hampton, IA. He graduated from South Winn High School in 1972. Michael than worked on the family farm and also as a custodian for St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Festina. Michael also had various other jobs throughout his life including: Farm Services in Calmar, Union Produce in Ossian and later for Farmers Union Coop in Ft. Atkinson. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, going on fishing trips to Canada with friends, taking trips with his good friend Kevin and visiting with farmers around the area while working. Michael especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Michael is survived by his five sisters: Margaret (Arlin) Pahl, Decorah, IA; Patricia Frana, Decorah, IA; Barbara (Allan) Shatek, Ft. Atkinson, IA; Jane Lechtenberg, Ft. Atkinson, IA and Mary Ann (Shanon Benson) Hoyme, Decorah, IA. Two brothers: Gary Lechtenberg and Norbert Jr. Lechtenberg both of Ft. Atkinson, IA along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents: Norbert and Flavia (Boyer) Lechtenberg. Great niece: Taylor Brincks.
