It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Ruth Norma Kraby Gay. She went home to God on April 12, 2018, passing peacefully at the Arbors Memory Care in Sparks. Ruth was born November 27, 1925, the youngest of four children to Albert & Mabel Kraby in Decorah, Iowa. Ruth attended schools in Decorah and at age 18 moved to Oregon where she met and married John Gay. They shared 53 loving years together until his passing in 2003. Ruth worked at various clerical jobs over the years most recently at Lord of Mercy Lutheran Church in Sparks, where she was a faithful parishioner. Ruth was a longtime member of Daughters of Norway and very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She never met a stranger, always outgoing and willing to help. Ruth could put a smile on your face with her wit and charm and had wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed baking, knitting and camping. Ruth was preceded in death by husband John, her parents, sister Esther, and brothers Arnold and Kenneth. Ruth will be remembered and missed by her son David and his wife Lisa of Sparks, NV, daughter Kristi Maples and husband Paul of Rancho Murrieta, CA, granddaughters, Natalie Gay, Hayley Gorbet, husband Philip, Hannah Gourley, husband Nick, three great grandchildren, Lilli, Kaeleb & Gaven Gorbet and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Arbors Memory Care where they made Ruth's stay and transition a peaceful journey, showing deep respect and love for her as well as all the caregivers who provided comfort at St. Mary's Hospice.

A Celebration of Ruth's Life is scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Walton's Sparks Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Sullivan Lane in Sparks.
