Jill was born February 23, 1956, in LaCrosse, WI, to Eugene and Clara (Casterton) McCabe. She graduated from North Winneshiek School in rural Decorah in 1974. She attended college at NICC earning her associates degree. On August 29, 1975, she married Daniel Dawley at the St. Agnes Catholic Church at Plymouth Rock. Their marriage was blessed with three children and four grandchildren. Jill worked a variety of jobs including Rockwell Collins for over 20 years, Security Bank & Trust, as a reading and math tutor at various schools including Mabel-Canton and Crossroads Academy, had a wedding decorating business, KD Rae Jewelry and most recently at First Southeast Bank in Canton.

Jill enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading, bonfires, sitting in the woods watching the wildlife, taking road trips along the Mississippi River collecting antiques and handmade jewelry, having a good cup of coffee or wine with a friend and spending time with family.

Jill passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, at home surrounded by family following a brief battle with cancer at the age of 61.

Jill is survived by her husband, Daniel Dawley of Burr Oak, IA. Three children: Anessa (Kasey) Cummings of Rochester, MN; Adam (Davia) of Bluffton, IA and Drew (Betsy) of Kasson, MN. Four grandchildren: Emily, Katie, Anna and Easton. Two brothers: Gary (Carol) and Joey (Mary) both of Burr Oak, IA. Six sisters: Janice (Leroy) Stone of Mabel, MN; Culah Pellegrini of Newton, MA; Diane (Andy) Saltis of Abington, MA; Linda (Harv) Swehla of Foley, AL; Kathy (Rick) Ellestad of Spring Hill, FL and Teryl Sue (John) Logsdon of Ossian, IA. Sister-in-law: Marlene McCabe of Burr Oak, IA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Sisters: Rita Branham and Judith Hentges. Brothers: Stanley “Sonny” McCabe and an infant brother. Three brothers-in-law: Roy Branham, Dan Pellegrini and Thomas Hentges and five half-brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, IA, with Pastor Matt Larson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church and again one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery.
