On Monday, March 12, at the Methodist parsonage in Decorah, Hans Stegen and Miss Ruth Meikle were united in marriage, the ceremony being performed by Rev. lackland. The affair was a complete surprise to their many friends and not even the relatives of the contracting parties were made acquainted with the fact until after it took place. The groom is a young man of excellent qualities and the bride, who is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Meikle, is one of our most popular young ladies. For a number of years she has been a successful teacher in the schools of Winneshiek and Allamakee counties, and at the time was employed as primary teacher in the public school here, which position she resigned to accept one of married happiness. They left the same day for Cresco where we understand they will make their home. We join with a large circle of friends in wishing them a long and happy life.
