MARRIED SIXTY-THREE YEARS.

To-morrow at Ossian, Adam and Caroline Johnson Vance will celebrate the sixty-third anniversary of their marriage. It was on December 1, 1850, at Benton, Indiana, that their vows were made. Little did they then imagine that so much of life together would be accorded them. In May, 185{?}, they came to Winneshiek county and took up land in Military township where they continued to reside until about fifteen years ago, when they moved to Ossian. Of ten children born to them seven are living. They are Mrs. Mary Rose, Mrs. Thos. Boyle and John Vance of Ossian, Smith Vance of Castalia, Elmer Vance of Dubuque, Mrs. J. R. Blue of Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Ina J. White of Decorah. Mrs. McClintock who was the eighth member of the family to attain maturity, died several years ago. Beside their children they have thirty three grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Mr. Vance was eighty eight years of age on August 17th last, and Mrs. Vance passed her eighty-fifty birthday on November 12th, but in spite of their age they continue to enjoy good health. Mr. Vance has been a life-long Democrat, and, as in all other things, very steadfast to his affiliation.
