Donald Brakke, 77, of Forest City, died Tuesday, (Aug.15, 1995) at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with the Rev. Bill Peters officiating. Burial will be in Winnebago Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, Forest City.

Donald Milo Raymond Brakke was born March 20, 1918, near Lake Mills in Winnebago County, to Halvor and Tillie (Thompson) Brakke. He was baptized and confirmed at Winnebago Lutheran Church and attended rural school.

On May 18, 1939, he was married to Amy 0. Lovick at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home on a farm east and north of Forest City for their entire married lives.

Don farmed until his death. He had a special fondness for his animals and especially for his dog.

He died at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., on Aug. 15, 1995, at the age of 77 years.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Brakke of Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City; a daughter, Dianne Riley and her husband, Frank and their children Matthew, Kory and Kristen, all of Osceola; and a brother, Harvey Brakke of Clear Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a half-brother and two half-sisters.
