Dennis Lindsey Loux
September 13, 1941 - October 25, 2018

Dennis Lindsey Loux, 77, of Clear Lake, died on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

A son of Lloyd Robert and Shirley Marie (Lindsey) Loux, Denny was born on September 13, 1941, in Clarion, Iowa. He married Virginia Fjetland in 1963 at the Forest Evangelical Lutheran Church in Forest City.

After graduating from Forest City High School, Denny began working as a contractor for Peterson Construction in Forest City. Next, he worked in sales for Winnebago Industries for a number of years. He, then, started JD Construction with his brother-in-law, Jerry Fjetland. Next, he owned and operated Loux Construction for forty years until he retired, thirty of them with his son, Dino.

A very laid-back man who would quietly interject his famous one-liners into any conversation, Denny liked taking day trips and was, always, looking forward to planning his next project whether at his own home or at some other family member’s. Nonetheless, he, especially, loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he cherished being able to attend their sporting events and school activities. Most of all, however, Denny treasured Tootie, his wife and best friend. Inseparable, they loved spending time together and were always having fun with each other.

Denny is survived by his soulmate of fifty-five years, Virginia “Tootie” Loux, of Clear Lake; four children, Valerie (John) Burtness, Vonnie (Scott) Amosson, and Dino (Dawn) Loux, all of Clear Lake, and Jeanne (Jerry Hanson) Helling, of Dubuque; ten grandchildren: Myah Loux, of Ames; Cameron Burtness, Jade (Jake Branstad) Loux, and Whitney (John) Mixdorf, all of Clear Lake; Chase (Jordan) Burtness, of Cedar Falls; Rebecca (Tom) Ameche, Carter Hanson, and Cody (April) Wolter, all of Dubuque; Lisa (Nick) Kies, of Lake View, Iowa; and Colby (Lisa) Dye, of Iowa City; nine great-grandchildren: Braxton Burtness of Cedar Falls; Kinsey Anderegg, Marlie Branstad, and Caroline and Cora Mixdorf, all of Clear Lake; Cale Dye, of Iowa City; Colson and Miranda Kies; of Lake View; and baby Wolter expected in 2019; a sister, Diane Netland, of Mesa, Arizona; and three sisters-in-law, Carmen Fjetland, of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Roxann Fjetland, of Clear Lake, and Cynthia Balvance, of Forest City; as well as by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers-in-law, Willard Netland, and Collin, Lon and Jerry Fjetland; and his parents-in-law, Clifford and Verl Fjetland.

Per Denny’s wishes, his body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2018, at the Clear Lake VFW, 219 Main Ave., Clear Lake, Iowa.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, Iowa, 2018.
