March 9, 1927 - October 16, 2018

Lowell E. Indvik, 91, of Forest City, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Lowell, a son of Sid and Sylvia (Peterson) Indvik, was born on March 9, 1927, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He attended country school in Winnebago County and graduated from Forest City High School. From May of 1946 to October 1947, he served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Japan. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to farm northwest of Forest City. Later. he was employed at Winnebago Industries where he worked until he retired. On June 23, 1978, he married Melva Johnson at Zion Lutheran Church in Thompson. When not working, he loved spending time with friends and family, playing cards, and collecting toy tractors and airplanes.

A long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thompson, he, later, joined the Forest Evangelical Lutheran Church in Forest City. He enjoyed the various leadership roles he played within the church including that of Congregation President.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Melva, of Forest City; three step-sons, Mark (Nancy) Carlson, of Warbo, Minnesota, Tim (Annette) Carlson, of Champlin, Minnesota, and Dan (Deb) Carlson, of Forest City; five grandchildren: Josh (Jeanette) McCartney, Brian (Nicole) Hagy, Brooke (Clint) Carlson, Matthew (Carly) Carlson, and Benjamin Carlson; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eldon “Babe” Indvik

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Forest Evangelical Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Wayne Halvorson officiating. Burial will follow at the West, West Prairie Cemetery with military rites performed by the Forest City Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the church.
