Rodney L. James
July 2, 1953 - August 28, 2018

Rodney L. James, 65, of Buffalo Center, died on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Rodney Lyle James, a son of Jim and Shirley (Haselroth) James, was born on July 2, 1953, in Buffalo Center where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1971. On November 18, 1972, he married Sandra Neitzel in Albert Lea, Minnesota. After working at Winnebago Industries for many years, he left to work construction with his brother-in-law, Bob Frerichs. He remained in that position until he retired because of his failing health.

Rod, always, enjoyed sitting on the tractor farming with his dad and managing his own hobby acres. In addition, he spent a lot of his time tinkering in his shop. Nevertheless, he, especially, liked camping, sitting around the fire pit with friends and family, golfing, and riding in his "Camaro" with his grandchildren. Indeed, he adored and loved his wife and children and even more his grandchildren. A man of faith, he worshipped the Lord at the Buffalo Center United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of Buffalo Center; three children and seven grandchildren: Vikki Bengtson, and her husband, Bruce, of Buffalo Center and their children Mackenzie and Kali; Dawn James, of Buffalo Center, and her children: Josh, Noah, and Jackson; and Bill James, and his wife, Sarah, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and their children, Ethan and Adalyn; his mother, Shirley James, of Buffalo Center; and three sisters, Becky Frerichs, and her husband, Bob, of Buffalo Center, Barb Grimm, and her husband, Mort, of Mason City, and Sue Fenske, and her husband, Todd, of Lee Summit, Missouri; as well as by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his father, Jim James, in 1999; and a grandson, Dallas Bengtson, in 1998.

A memorial service for Rod James of Buffalo Center will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center. His family will greet friends on Friday, August 31, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Oakcrest Funeral Services Winter Chapel in Buffalo Center and will continue for one hour before the services at the church on Saturday.
