A son of Fred and Margaret (Bodensteiner) Pint, Norbert was born on February 12, 1927, in Osage, Iowa. Baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, he remained a member there for most of his life.

In 1945, he entered the Army and was stationed at Fort Snelling, Camp Livingston, and Fort Riley before being sent to Yokahama, Japan, for one year. He, also, attended Iowa State University for one year. Later, he drove a grain truck in Webster City, Iowa, worked at White/Oliver in Charles City, Iowa, and owned an A & W restaurant in Webster City for two years. He, then, moved to Minneapolis where he became a machinist.

In 1961, he purchased a building on Highway 69 where he operated the Forest Machine Shop until 1998. Over the years, he did custom welding and machine work for local manufacturers including Winnebago Industries in the 1960s. After selling his business in Forest City, he went to work at Streater in Albert Lea, Minnesota, before working at Fleetguard/Cummins in Lake Mills. He retired in 1992.

After retiring, he loved to watch sporting events, tinkering around in his garage, and working on antique engines as well as small appliances. Two of his favorite stops included the library and Hardees for coffee and conversation. A lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, he, currently, belonged to St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, Iowa. On June 25, 1977, he married Maxine Munsell Boeset. The couple moved to Forest City at that time along with Maxine’s daughter, Angie.

Norbert is survived by three step-children: Hugh (Jan) Boeset, of Naperville, Illinois, Kathy Parker (Stan Miller), of Prosper, Texas, and Angie (Deron) Steiner, of Montgomery, Indiana; his grandchildren: Mike (Deann) Read, of Northwood, Iowa, Amy (Mark) Wallin, of Alden, Minnesota, Michele (Todd) Argyilan, of Aurora, Illinois, Jen (Jeff) Kettinger, of Aurora, Illinois, Derek (Shannon) and Brice (Jess) Aukes, of Forest City, Iowa, and Corey (Erica) Anderson, of Cedar Fall, Iowa; and two step-great grandchildren; and his siblings, James (Betty) Pint, of Ohio, and Rosemary (Bill) Paschke, of Deerfield, Wisconsin, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; his sisters: Betty (Neal) O’Donnell, Delores Pint, and Patricia (Ron) Carrick; his step-daughter, Barbara (Boeset) Kirchgatter.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 12, 2018, at St. James Catholic Church, 906 West O St., Forest City, Iowa, with Rev. Jim Dubert officiating. At 9:00 A.M., the Knights of Columbus will lead a recitation of the Rosary followed by a time for visitation until the Mass time. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage, Iowa.
