April 03, 1958 - March 01, 2018

Roxanne L. Irons, age 59, of rural Lake Mills, died peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at her home.

Roxanne Lee Curry was born on April 3rd, 1958, to Franklin and Donna (Brings) Curry in Richfield, Minnesota. She attended Richfield High School, graduating in 1976. She earned a Music Teaching Degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, in 1980 and then began her teaching career in Red Wing, Minnesota, where she taught for one year. She spent the next two years teaching in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. The last 35 years, however, she taught in Albert Lea, Minnesota, retiring just this past year.

On August 17th, 1991, Roxanne married to Gary Irons in Albert Lea. They moved to an acreage in rural Lake Mills, Iowa, where they raised three boys: Benjamin, Noah, and Gabriel. An elementary music teacher, Roxanne, also, enjoyed acting in the Albert Lea Community Theater. While working on a production of “Once Upon a Mattress,” she had the good fortune to meet Gary, her future husband. They, subsequently, joined the Asbury United Methodist Church in Lake Mills. Roxanne played the piano, sang, and directed the choir. Most of her time, however, she spent with her children. Indeed, she never missed an event that they were participating in. Roxanne loved her role as a “Wrestling Mom,” wearing purple and gold along with her buttons. and sitting with her friends while cheering on the Bulldogs. As a mother, she found her greatest joys in raising her children and loving the Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gary Irons; her children, Ben (Jillian), Noah, and Gabe; her brother, David (Jill) Curry, of New Ulm, Minnesota, and their sons, Jonathon and Erik; his sisters-in-law, Carmel (Keith) Anderson, of Ketchikan, Arkansas, and their daughters, Eliah and Ezrie; Shelley (Kurt) Michalicek, of Duluth, Minnesota, and their sons, Jason (Sara), Ryan, and Kyle; her father- and mother-in-law, Willis and Betty Irons, of Tower, Minnesota; her church family; and her community members.

Roxanne is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Donna Curry, and her grandparents, Donald and Julia Brings and Allen and Hazel Curry.
