September 2, 1959 - March 7, 2018

Pamla Carol (Aukes) Akkermann, 58, of Buffalo Center, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Pam was born on September 2, 1959, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to Loren and Carol (Egesdal) Aukes. She grew up in Buffalo Center and graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1977. In August of 1977, she married Joe Akkermann. They resided in Buffalo Center where they raised their two daughters, Kristine and Kimberly. For many years, Pam worked at Miller Pharmacy in Buffalo Center as a Pharmacist Tech, a job she loved. After the pharmacy closed, she worked for several more years at Farmer's Trust & Savings Bank in Buffalo Center and Lake Mills. Currently, she was working in the kitchen at the North Iowa Community School. She adored all the kids and looked forward to seeing them every day.

Pam enjoyed gardening and canning. Her family and friends relished her famous rhubarb jelly and rhubarb pies. In addition, she had a pronounced talent for sewing and made many clothes for Kristine and Kimberly when they were little. Pam also loved antiques and refinishing pieces of furniture. She spent years refinishing all the woodwork in their house. Moreover, she adored her grandkids immensely. They became her pride and joy.

She is survived by her husband of forty years, Joe, of Buffalo Center; her daughters, Kristine (Lance) Rebelein, of Mankato, Minnesota, and Kimberly (Brian) Drewry, of Jordan, Minnesota; her grandchildren: Carter, Gavin, Harrison, and Claire; her mother, Carol Aukes, of Forest City; and her siblings: Paula (David) Heyes, of Forest City, Craig Aukes, of Buffalo Center, and Scott (JoAnn) Aukes, of Ankeny; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding her in death are her father, Loren Aukes; a nephew, Cody Aukes, and a baby grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center. Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pam's name to The Andreas Cancer Center, 1025 Marsh St, Mankato, Minnesota 56001.
