October 28, 1958 to June 29, 2017

Theresa Charlson, 58, passed away unexpectedly at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 29, 2017.

Theresa was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on October 28, 1958, to Joel and Sandra Turnbull. After relocating several times during her father’s military service, her family moved to Forest City, Iowa. Before graduating from Forest City High School, she, also, attended Belmond Community Schools in Iowa. After graduating, she worked at North Central Human Services (NCHS) and served in various roles assisting handicapped children. In due course, she met Elynn Charlson whom she married on September 3, 1977. They were blessed with two beautiful children—Joseph and Amy. They made Forest City their home, and while there, she held numerous jobs for several years after becoming a stay-at-home mom. Then, she and Elynn relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, where she accepted a job as a pharmacy technician at Offutt Air Force Base.

Theresa enjoyed cooking and baking, and for several years, she ran her own cake business—Cake Works. She, also, loved crafts and sewing, making several quilts for her children, gardening, tending to her flower beds; participating in outdoor activities, spending time with her family and friends, and having many memorable expierences with her grandson. Devoted to her family, she will be most remembered for her kind-hearted spirit, selflessness, and zest for life.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Elynn Charlson; her son, Joseph (Mirrna) Charlson; her daughter, Amy (Eric) Richey, and her grandson, Zayden Richey; and a future granddaughter; her mother, Sandra Turnbull; her sister, Jeanine (Jerry) Marsolek; and her brothers, Brad, Brian, and Todd; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; her mother- and father-in- law; and Dorothy Haugen, a special family friend.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 7th, 201, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Roeder Mortuary Gretna Chapel, 11710 Standing Stone Drive, Gretna, Nebraska 68028. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 11204 South 204th Street, Gretna, Nebraska 68028. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
